Maya began with a simple question: what kind of myth can help a civilization choose better?
Stories are survival technology. They carry wisdom forward and let us practice the future. Democracies, ideologies, and economies were stories once. They were blueprints for a world someone imagined. In stories, we test a choice, see a road to its end, and learn without injury.
When futures are pictured vividly, the values needed to build them take root. Civilizational repair requires collective imagination. Our hope is that Maya can play a small part in that enterprise. Without you, it would have been meandering ideas and intentions. With you, it’s now a living lore.
More than 170 people built this world with us. Scientists kept the biology honest. Artists made the silence visible. Architects drew cities that could hold. We tried to keep rigor and wonder in the same frame.
The novel is written. So is the lore book. The architecture book has been compiled. Because of your support, we are not rushing ourselves. We are taking the time for one final, rigorous edit with Liz Gorinsky.
Hugo Weaving has recorded the audiobook, and we will return for one more session to fold in the final changes. A board game will follow immediately. Work on the film has begun, and the first storyboard frame will appear in the hardcover.
We are bringing the first game from the MAYA Universe "Trials of MAYA" to Essen Spiel this year, from the 23rd to the 26th of October, at Essen Germany. If you are attending, you can find us at booth number 4B200 to playtest the game!
